AC/DC’s Angus speaks out on Phil Rudd

The AC/DC guitarist has spoken out on the bands (former?) drummer’s current charges and behaviour.

Following a raid on his house, PHIL RUDD is now subject to an ongoing investigation into charges of threatening to kill and possession of drugs which could lead up to 7 years in prison. The original main charge of trying to procure murder has since been dropped on lack of substantial evidence.

In an interview with USA today, Young says that Rudd’s behaviour was “erratic” before and during the production of the band’s new album Rock or Bust. The drummer rarely attended parts of the album run-up including photo and video shoots which led to speculation of his place in the band.

Young says:

"It put us in a difficult situation. It put us in a spot where we couldn't move forward. Does the guy show up? Is he reliable to do his job in good shape? We've always been a solid, reliable unit.

"Phil created his own situation. It's a hard thing to say about the guy. He's a great drummer, and he's done a lot of stuff for us. But he seems to have let himself go. He's not the Phil we've known from the past."

He adds:

"When you get into that land, it's very hard. I don't know the exact situation. I can only say, from our perspective that the guy needs to sort himself out."

Rudd is currently under house arrest pending his return to court on November 27th.
