Slipknot will “cover the planet”...sounds good, right?

In a recent interview with 94.3 KILO, Corey Taylor has set the tone for the coming months with the band. The big questions like “who is the drummer?” and “is The Negative One written about [ex-drummer] Joey Jordison?” have been left to the imagination, though comments on the upcoming tour, the album itself and the new bad masks.

Speaking on the content of the album, Taylor says “There’s a handful of songs on the album that are about Paul. There’s a bunch of songs about the band and everything we’ve been through in the last four years; all the emotions we’ve had to deal with, the reaction from the world.

“A lot of people have no idea what it’s been like. You don’t understand. For me as a lyricist, being able to tell the story as honestly and darkly as I’ve been able to – I’m stoked for people to hear it.”
5: The Gray Chapter is described by the frontman to be “dark, moody, artistic” and, more importantly “heavy as hell”. The two released tracks so far The Negative One and The Devil in I have both showcased the Slipknot that we’ve been waiting patiently this long for. Taylor went on to say:

“There’s some brutal screams on it, but there’s also huge melodies on it. I can’t tell you how stoked I am that we were able to pull this off. It’s a fantastic piece of work. I’m really proud of it.”

As for the new masks? They are set to make their debut appearance on video for The Devil in I which is soon to be released. “Some have changed in subtle ways. My mask changes dramatically because, for me, the mask is a representation of what’s going on spiritually, emotionally, artistically. It’s about what’s coming next. People are going to get a lot when they see this video – it’s going to blow their minds.” Taylor says.

So for now, we’ll have to be happy with knowing that Slipknot will be touring the US with King 810 and Korn, that 5:The Gray Chapter will be out on the 21st October and of course, new drummer is shy as fuck.

As always, stay heavy.
